About
The people behind the salve, and why we made it.

Our story
boisvert & burke started as a fun project in jelly jars out of boredom during COVID. While staying at a farm we began harvesting dried flowers, extracting oils and filling old jelly jars with a simple, honest salve that worked without a page-long ingredient list. A friend called one day and asked if we could label it and produce 250 to give out as gifts during the holiday season of 2021. And so began our journey in California.
Up until recently, we produced salve exclusively on-demand for colleagues, friends and family. Due to increasing demand across the US, we are now producing out of our Buchanan, Michigan home with a slight change in recipe to preserve our commitment to local sourcing and community.
We're a small, family-run operation. Every jar is blended, poured, and labelled by hand in small batches. We don't have a warehouse. We don't have investors. We have a kitchen and a few trusted local suppliers. We make our salves the old-fashioned way: with care, local ingredients, and a belief that the best things begin close to home. Rooted in artisanal craft, we source natural botanicals from local growers to create gentle, nourishing salves for every body.
At a time when connection matters more than ever, we’re returning to the basics: thoughtful making, shared well-being, and stronger community.
Our values
- Simplicity over complexity. We use the fewest ingredients necessary to do the job well. Mother nature does the rest.
- Honesty over marketing. We won't claim to fix, cure, or treat anything. This is a cosmetic salve. It's really good, though!
- Small over big. We'd rather make less and make it right.
The name
We are Alex Boisvert and Megan Burke, and we're married to each other. We make the salve together so we put both our names on it. Nothing more complicated than that.
